Upgrade Your Squarespace Website to a Custom Site
Squarespace makes beautiful sites easy, until your business needs something the templates don’t allow. Custom layouts, deeper integrations, larger catalogues or serious SEO all run into the platform’s limits. We migrate Squarespace sites to custom websites you own, keeping the look you like and the rankings you’ve earned.

Template walls
Layouts, page types and functionality are limited to what the template and block system offer, and custom code injection only goes so far.
Commerce and content ceilings
Product options, complex catalogues, multi-language content and large content libraries become hard to manage as you grow.
Limited integrations
Connecting a CRM, booking engine, customer portal or internal system properly usually needs an API-level integration the platform doesn’t support.
SEO and performance limits
You can’t fully control page weight, structured data or URL structure, which caps how far technical SEO can go.
What We Upgrade You To
We recommend the option that fits how your team will update the site, not the one that's easiest for us to build.
Custom Next.js site
A fast, pre-rendered site with full control over SEO, structured data and integrations. It’s what codemaya.com runs on.
Headless CMS
Your team edits content in a friendly CMS (including WordPress), while visitors get a fast custom front end.
Lean WordPress rebuild
For teams that want to stay on WordPress: a clean theme and only the plugins you need, built to stay fast and easy to update.
Moving Off Squarespace: What's Different
- Squarespace’s export covers basic pages, blog posts and galleries in a WordPress-format file. Products, custom layouts and most block content don’t come across, so we rebuild those.
- We recreate your design faithfully, or refresh it, as a custom front end without template constraints.
- Squarespace URL patterns change on any other platform, so we build a complete 301 redirect map before launch.
How the Migration Works
- 1
Audit
We review your current site, its traffic and rankings in Google Search Console, integrations and content, then recommend a target and give a fixed quote.
- 2
Redirect map
Every existing URL, including blog posts and images that rank, is mapped to its new address with a permanent (301) redirect.
- 3
Design and build
We rebuild your design or refresh it, then build the new site with SEO metadata, structured data and Core Web Vitals checked page by page.
- 4
Content migration
Pages, posts, images and products move across, with titles and descriptions kept so rankings carry over.
- 5
Launch
We switch DNS without touching your email, activate redirects, and submit the new sitemap to Google Search Console.
- 6
After launch
We watch crawl errors, rankings and traffic in the weeks after launch and fix anything that slips.
Squarespace Migration FAQs
Will I lose my Google rankings if I leave Squarespace?
Not with a properly managed migration. Every existing URL gets a permanent (301) redirect to its new address, page content and metadata carry over, and we resubmit the sitemap in Google Search Console at launch and monitor it afterwards.
Can my site look the same after the move?
Yes. We can rebuild your current design closely, or use the move to refresh it. Either way, layouts are no longer limited to Squarespace’s templates.
Can you migrate my Squarespace store?
Yes. Products don’t come through Squarespace’s standard site export, so we move product data separately and rebuild the store on the platform that best fits your catalogue.
Will I still be able to edit the site myself?
Yes. We set up a CMS so your team can edit pages and publish blog posts without a developer.
How long does a Squarespace migration take?
It depends on the number of pages, products and integrations. We give a timeline and fixed quote after auditing your current site.
